Dating back to 1903 and the Spindletop oil boom in Beaumont, Texas, Motiva’s Port Arthur refinery is now the largest in the United States, with a crude capacity of 600,000 barrels per day. The facility has access to multiple major crude oil and product pipelines, which transport gasoline, diesel, kerosene and jet fuel to the East Coast, Midwest, Central Texas and the Southeast Texas area. The refinery also operates the largest single lube plant in the United States, producing lubricant base oils that are sold to Shell Lubricants and a variety of industrial companies.
Motiva’s Convent refinery ,located in St. James Parish, Louisiana, along the Mississippi River, Built by Texaco in 1967, it is an integrated oil refinery that produces a full slate of conventional petroleum products including regular, premium and low-sulfur gasoline. The refinery produces reformulated and conventional gasoline, primarily for the southeastern United States.
In 1979, the refinery underwent a major expansion; today, it has a crude capacity of 230,000 barrels per day.
The Norco Manufacturing Complex is home to Shell Chemicals and Motiva Enterprises LLC. Motiva Norco’s major refining units include Distilling, Catalytic Cracking, Catalytic Reformer, Alkylation, Hydrocracking, Hydrotreating, and Coking. Products processed or produced daily in the Norco refinery include gasoline, jet-A aviation fuel, low sulfur diesel and anode grade coke. The refinery’s crude capacity is 235,000 barrels per day.
