In the Community
The Motiva Port Arthur Refinery has a long-standing history of investing into the community in which we operate. These investments are included in our Social Performance Plan, which reflects the corporate commitment to making sustainable, positive impacts in our target areas.
During the past two years, Motiva invested approximately $1.7 million into the local community through programs, projects and events.
Of that amount, $1 million was donated to a not-for-profit organization in Port Arthur, for the purpose of constructing a Development Center in one of the refinery’s fence line communities.
The building is to serve as a legacy to the Crude Expansion Project, in appreciation to the community where residents and officials were most impacted by heavy traffic and other similar matters, while the project was under construction. The additional contributions were made to support various social investment programs, events and activities.
Motiva’s Youth Training Academy represents a partnership with the Port Arthur Independent School District and other community partners, wherein students in this school district are provided targeted assistance to enhance and improve their education.
This Academy has operated since 2006 and has made significant, positive impacts in the lives of students who are identified by district officials to participate in this program.
Motiva has invested more than $7 million in the past seven years, within Port Arthur and surrounding communities in Southeast Texas, in areas where we operate and where the majority of our employees reside.
